Let me start by telling you that I am a professional performer who does whip cracking in my act. I wouldn't say that I'm an expert whip cracker, but a strong intermediate.
My first whip was an eight foot swivel handled bullwhip (cowhide) from Western Stage Props. It was an good whip to learn basic cracks on.
My second whip was a six foot stock whip (cowhide) that was made by Paul Stenhouse.
My third whip is a six foot bullwhip (kangaroo hide) made by David Morgan (author of Whips and Whip Making). This is my favorite whip, and the one that I use when cracking for fun!
My Fourth whip is four foot "lil indy" bullwhip (kangaroo hide) from Western Stage Props. This is the whip that is in my shows.
The whip I am holding in the picture is the "lil indy" whip. The picture was taken at a comedy show that was at the Mirabeau Room in Seattle.
Tonight I'll be using the "lil indy" whip at Giggle's Comedy Club in Seattle. What I love about this whip is that I can use it in a show just about anywhere. There's virtually no ceiling too low for this whip.
I wish I could use the six foot David Morgan bullwhip in more places, but because of ceiling height I can't use it in 99.9 % of the venues that I work. It does get to see an audience in some theater's and outdoor fairs that I work.
