My fifth bullwhip ended up being shorter than I thought it would be. I was hoping for it to be over 6 feet long, but it's clocking in at under 6 feet.

I'm keeping this one as an eight plait bullwhip. I think I am going to try to get good at doing an 8 plait before moving onto more strands.

I didn't cut the strands for the 8 plait layer long enough, so I had to shorten the 4 plait layer.

One thing that I learned from this whip was that my core wasn't round...and that was really enhanced when I made the 8 plait layer...so note to self, keep the core round!

My next step will be the turks heads on the knob and the end of the thong. I saw a picture in David Morgan's book Whips and Whipmaking where the knob wasn't round like a ball, but more like a can. So I've got the leather on the end right now and I've got a coat of glue on it. Hopefully tomorrow it will be dry and I can finish this one and get started on my next one.
