Well bullwhip #6 is basically done. All it needs is the knot between the handle and the thong. This whip didn't turn out quite as nice as I expected it to. It doesn't crack as easily as I think it should.
I think one of the main problems was that I used a cheaper, lighter leather for the inside...and that is what is making this whip feel light and not crack so easily. Also I think I am using too thin leather for the bolster.
What makes me think that is when I met david Morgan a few days ago and he cuts the bolster out of the same piece of leather as the rest of the whip. Right now I'm using a wicked thin pig leather for the bolster.
This whip ended up with some gaps in the plaiting due to me prematurely dropping 2 strands and breaking a strand. The areas where it wasn't effected by the dropped/broken strands turned out pretty nice.
I'm most proud of the turks head on this whip...it actually looks like a turkshead!
