Yesterday I cut out the strands and final bolster for the 6 foot bullwhip. When cutting the strands I ran out of leather on two o my strands (they are about 2 feet short). I'm figuring that those can be the strands that I drop first.
The other problem that creates is that they are skinnier than the rest of the strands. I've started plaiting this whip and it's going OK. I have the handle part plaited with a checkerboard, and they thong the regular over3 under 3 pattern.
This checkerboard is about 6 inches along the handle, but the nail is 10 inches. I like the look of the two knots about a hands lenght apart.
We'll see how this whip turns out.
