After visiting with joe strain last week, he told me that I should learn to "cut with the thumb nail". This is basicially cutting the strands with just a blade (no strand cutter). It's very difficult to do.
I'm practicing it by cutting a lot of short lace. I'm using that lace for making wrist loops. My thinking is that if I cut shorter lenghts and mess them up, it's less of a loss then trying to cut longer lengths, then cutting one off when I get 6 feet of it already cut.
So far I suck at cutting them even, but I must have cut 20 strands yesterday, and am making progress. I'm almost at a beginners level!
Bullwhip progress:
I'm still working on that 6 foot bullwhip. I've got the core, 1st belly, bolster, 2nd belly finished. I just need to cut out the 2nd bolster and add the overlay and knots.
