I finished plating the 6 foot bullwhip that I am working on and it looked horrible! It ended up being as thick as a polish sasuage all the way down, then suddenly dropped off.

So I undid the plaiting and cut down the bolster to make it taper gradually (I hope). So the handle has a checkerboard for about 5-6 inches then it goes to a over 2 under 2 over 2 patter before it changes into a under 3 over 3 pattern for the thong.

we will see how it turns out.

Undoing the whip was a pain in the ass...but it was neat to see what happens to the insides of a whip when it is briaded. The plaiting compresses the core and really removes all the natural air space inside the whip.

Oh, paul nolan comment that my whip (the one pictured on this post) on ebay looks excellent. that means a lot to me coming from paul. Here's really helped me a ton making these whips!
